As written in an article from the News Review:
The Umpqua Valley Winegrowers Association (UVWA) will present the 41st annual Greatest of the Grape celebration on Sat., March 5, 7:00-11:00 p.m., at the Seven Feathers Casino Resort & Spa in Canyonville. Under the theme, “…and Let there be Wine!” the event features the finest vintages from 28 Umpqua Valley and other southern Oregon wineries, perfectly paired with culinary creations from 14 of the region’s best restaurants.
In 1970 Richard Sommer, father of the Oregon wine industry and the first to plant Pinot Noir here, thought local wines should be shared and enjoyed with just the right foods. The Greatest of the Grape started then and has held every year since.
Wine entries will be professionally judged prior to the event by well-known wine experts and winners announced that evening. Guests are encouraged to sample different types of wines and to vote for their favorites and the best wine/food pairing in the People’s Choice Award category.
A portion of the event proceeds will be donated to th Sylvia Henry Memorial Scholarship which is awarded to Oregon students studying viticultlure and enology. Visit http://www.umpquavalleywineries.org/ for more information.
